Crime Blotter--stealing and wrecks

A resident of Bob Holman Road, driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500, was north bound on the inner Loop in the right lane. A man from of Sedgefield Dr, driving a 2008 Honda Accord, was behind the Dodge. The Honda driver changed the left lane but drifted back to the right lane and struck the Dodge. The Honda rotated to the right and rolled five times before coming to rest in the right lane. The Dodge Ram came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the road. The Honda driver was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center. No citations have been issued in this accident which occurred around 2:33pm on May 3 as the investigation continues.   

A Baxter Drive residence was burglarized between 6pm on May 2 and 7am on May 3. Watches, TVs, guitars, lap top, and shoes were stolen. The total value was $1,535.

A woman reported that her Glenhaven Avenue residence was burglarized between 12 noon April 24 and 2pm on May 3. Cash and a laptop with a total value of $900 were stolen.

An officer met with a mane from North Avenue on South Rocksprings Street  The man was holding a bloody rag to his head where he had a cut above his eye.  He said he had gone to the residence to visit a friend. The friend did not answer the door so he turned to leave.  As he did so, he was approached by a black man who asked if he could help him get a cab.  When he stopped to talk to the stranger, the man  said he was struck on the head with what he believed was a tree branch.  The blow knocked him to the ground. He remembered trying to fight the man off and the man removing his wallet from his pocket. The suspect ran south on Rocksprings toward Waddell Street. His wallet and contents were valued at $162.  EMS responded and checked the injured man at the scene but he declined transport to the hospital.  The suspect was described as 5’5” to 5’8”, 130 to 150 pounds.  This occurred around 11:55am on  May 2.

Between 8am and 10:30am on May 2 someone tried to enter a Fowler Mill Road residence.

A woman reported that her residence was burglarized between 7am and 11:30am on May 2.  Video game systems, video games, and a TV were stolen.  The total value was $1,498. 

A Holly Springs Court residence was burglarized between midnight and 4:45pm on May 2.  A video game console, video game, and TV were stolen. The total value was $910. 

Between 1:30pm and 2:35pm on May 2 a Creekwood Drive residence was burglarized.  A TV valued at $300 was stolen. 

A Colbert man reported that $3,600 was stolen from his Trans Tech Drive office between 5pm on April 27 and 8:45am on April 30.  This was reported on May 2.
