Drunk Man Bites Woman's Buttocks, Gets in Fight, Gets Arrested

Around 1:15am on October 24, an Athens Clarke County Police officer saw a fight in front of the Nowhere Bar, 240 South Lumpkin Street.
Two of the people involved told the officer one of the other men had bitten a woman in the bar on the buttocks. Contact was made with the 22-year old victim who confirmed this. Another woman who would not identify herself said the offender had fondled her breast but she did not want to file charges.
After the arrest was made, a 23-year old male and a 19-year old female told the officer they had encountered the offender and his friend outside the bar. They said he tried to kiss them but they pushed him away; they said they also witnessed the assault on the victim.
David Franklin Cruz, 23, Ruth Street, and Charles W. Stewart, 23, Ridge Road, Waycross, were arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct. Cruz was also charged with Sexual Battery.
