Early Morning Robbery Reported in Athens

A woman said two men took her wallet around 2 a.m.

An Athens woman told police she was robbed by two men near the Holiday Inn Express early Wednesday morning.

According to Athens-Clarke County Police, the woman, who lives on Dearing Street, said she was walking home from downtown around 2 a.m. when the men approached her, asked for money, then robbed her of her wallet.

She said the men were walking on the other side of the street before crossing the street to follow her. As she turned onto Finley Street, the men caught up to her and asked if she had any loose change. She said no.

They then demanded her wallet and because she was scared she handed it over. They ran off.

She said she hid in the bushes after the robbery and then called police about an hour later.

The suspects are both described as while males in their 20’s. One had curly blonde hair, the other had shoulder-length dark hair.

Officers search the area, but were unable to find the suspects.
