Ex-Roommate Stole Identity to Get Out of Seat-Belt Ticket

Woman said she hadn't seen the ex-roommate in two years.

A Gwinnett County woman says an ex-roommate used her identity to get out of a self-belt violation.

The woman, from Lawrenceville, went to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office in Winder on Feb. 25 to report the alleged identity theft, according to the incident report.

She received a letter from the Barrow County Probate Court saying she failed to appear in January for a seat-belt violation and must pay the citation before March 4 or risk losing her license and be arrested for failure to appear.

The woman told deputies she hasn’t seen her ex-roommate in two years and doesn’t know where she currently resides.
