Failure to Yield Results in Wreck with Injuries

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

At 10:34 pm on April 26, Marta Nino, Vineyard Drive, Athens, was attempting to turn left onto Jefferson River Road from a private driveway while driving a 2007 Honda Odyssey.

She turned into the path of a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice which was northbound on Jefferson River Road, driven by a woman from Hanover Place in Athens. Following the collision, the woman in the Chevrolet lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway, striking a mailbox and a wooden fence, then striking a residence and vehicle parked in front of the residence.

Nino and two passengers in her vehicle, ages 8 and 2 years old, were transported for complaints of injuries, and the Chevrolet driver was transported for treatment of visible injuries. Nino was cited for Failure To Yield When Entering Roadway.
