Faux Grass-cutter Turns Burglar, Police Say

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Two men told police they had contact with the offender on June 25. He offered to cut the grass the next day at their Reese Street residence; however, he did not show up. Around 9pm on June 26, while they were the back part of the house, someone knocked on the front door.

When they made it to the front of the house, they saw the same man standing in the foyer. He told them he just wanted to make sure they were home and he would be back the next day to cut the grass.

After he left, they discovered $300 was missing from a table in the foyer. The roommates provided a description and first name of Anthony for the suspect.

Another officer recognized the description of a potential suspect. Contact was made with him at his residence and he was taken into custody. As the investigation progressed, Anthony Leroy Long was confirmed as the offender and he was arrested. Long, 46, Dallas St, was charged with Burglary.
