A man arrested and charged with assault against his girlfriend’s 12-year-old son told police he was disciplining the boy.
But Athens-Clarke County Police thought otherwise, especially after one officer reportedly saw the man throw the boy against a wall.
According to a report on OnlineAthens.com, Gary Gordon Scales was arrested Monday at the Triplett Mobile Home Park.
Scales, 36, was charged with misdemeanor battery and felony cruelty to children. The boy had red marks and scratches on his neck.
Scales was on parole after serving time on drug convictions.
