Football Recruit Investigated for UGA Dorm Burglary

He was in Athens to attend a prospect camp, according to reports.

The University of Georgia Police are investigating a dormitory burglary over the weekend that reportedly involved a football prospect.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the athlete, who has not been identified, was from Florida and in Athens to attend a prospect camp.

UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson told the AJC the recruit was spending the night with two football players in the dorm.

According to the police department’s daily log, the burglary occurred around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19 in Busbee Hall.

The AJC said two female students, both UGA athletes, were awaken when the suspect entered their residence through an unlocked door. A cell phone and wallet were taken.

An athletics department spokesman told the AJC that Head Coach Mark Richt is aware of the incident.
