GBI Crime Lab Says Someone Killed A Woman Found on Oconee Roadside

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office isn't releasing details about the manner in which the victim was killed.

 

The death of an Oglethorpe County woman whose body was found Wednesday along Simonton Bridge Road in Oconee County has been ruled a homicide.

According to Chief Deputy Lee Weems of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the victim has been identified as 38-year-old Misty Michelle Myrick.

Her body was discovered shortly before 2:30 p.m. on May 29 between Broadlands Drive and Norton Road and was sent to the GBI crime lab.

The sheriff's office hasn't released any details concerning the investigation into the death and has declined to disclose the manner in which Myrick was killed.

"We've released all of the information we can at this time," Weems said Thursday afternoon. "We're working on leads, gathering evidence and talking to people."
