The young woman's body was discovered Tuesday morning in a creek along the Plaza in Athens.

The Athens Clarke County Police say:

Following an extensive forensic investigation of the site where the body of Rebecca Elaine Greene was located this morning in Athens, Georgia, her body was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Decatur.

An autopsy was completed by the medical examiner and the preliminary results indicate that it was not a homicide, no foul play was involved, and no one else had a role in her death.

Final results are pending further testing.
