Girls Steal School Supplies, Fruit From Wal-mart

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An Athens woman was arrested and two juvenile girls charged with shoplifting Tuesday after Wal-mart representatives apprehended them for trying to steal school supplies and fruit, according to an report.

Police arrived at the Lexington Road Wal-mart at about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday after a Wal-mart employee called to report that three people had been caught shoplifting. The employee told police that he had watched LaPorche Dorsey, 20, and two juveniles put various school supplies, plus green grapes and strawberries, in backpacks that also had been taken from the store. The girls then tried to walk out without paying.

After all items were returned to the store, the two juvenile girls were turned over to their aunt. Dorsey was arrested and transported to Clarke County Jail.
