Gun-Toting Dog Owner Refuses To Pick Up Poop

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Shammar Whitehead told Athens Clarke County Police that while he was at his West Broad Street apartment, a Hispanic man and Hispanic woman passed by, walking their dog.

Whitehead told police that he asked the man to clean up after the dog. The Hispanic male became upset.

Whitehead said a short time later the man returned; the man was very irate and told Whitehead that he was associated with the mafia. Whitehead said the man raised his shirt exposing a handgun.

The suspect then pulled the gun and pointed it at Whitehead. The suspect then ran from the scene. Officers recovered the firearm due to an anonymous tip.  This incident is under investigation.
