Isaiah Crowell Dismissed from UGA's Football Team

Talented running back faces a felony weapons charge in Athens, Ga.

University of Georgia running back Isaiah Crowell has been kicked off the Bulldogs Football Team after he was arrested on a felony weapons charge on the morning of June 29 in Athens.

According to a story in the AJC, Mark Richt, Georgia head football coach, announced the deicision inΒ  short news release sent out by UGA Sports Communications.

"We have a dedicated and committed group of men who are working hard to prepare for the coming season," said Richt, on a UGA website. "Our total focus will be directed toward the team and this effort."

Crowell is a sophomore from Columbus morning by Athens Clarke County Police at a safety checkpoint. According to an Athens Clarke County Police report, the men riding in the vehicle with Crowell were Josh Harvey-Clemons, Blake Tibbs, Quintavious Harrow and Sheldon Dawson. Harrow is also from Columbus and on the UGA football team.

None was charged.

Crowell arrived at UGA last year with great potential and accomplishments.
