Jason Aldean Concert Folks--Here's What You Need to Know

Important Information on Parking and Traffic, Tailgating, Alcohol, Personal Belongings Security, and Ticket and Merchandise Sales from the UGA Police Department for the Jason Aldean Concert this Saturday. Please feel free to share with your friends. We encourage everyone to stay safe and have fun!

Parking and Traffic
-------
Campus parking for the concert will only be allowed in parking lots and parking decks after 2pm. Cash lots on campus are still available and law enforcement and support staff will assist in directing motorists to available lots. No parking will be allowed on sidewalks, grass, or other areas that are not designated as parking spaces.

The University of Georgia Police Department, with the assistance of area law enforcement agencies, has developed a traffic management plan designed to move post game traffic to major highways as quickly as possible.

After the event, numerous police officers from the University of Georgia Police Department, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, and other area agencies will be directing traffic to get you to your destination as quickly as possible. Please understand that given the high volume, it is possible that the flow of traffic may slow at various points. We ask that you refrain from calling the police department as it is imperative that emergency lines remain open. Any urgent information will be provided on this frequency.

As you leave campus, please be alert for pedestrians and obey all police officers directing traffic.

Many fans parked in the East Campus area will be directed to an on-ramp that has been constructed behind the East Campus Village parking deck. This on-ramp will provide direct and continuous access to the Georgia 10 Loop.

The 10 Loop, also known as the Athens Perimeter, is a complete circle around the Athens area providing access to major highways such as Georgia Highway 316, US Highway 29, and US Highway 441. You can reach all of these highways regardless of the direction you are sent on the 10 Loop. While the direction you are sent may be a few miles longer, following it will decrease your actual travel time.

All post event traffic will be directed away from campus and toward the GA 10 Loop, also known as the Athens bypass. From the bypass, all major roads leading to Athens including Hwys 441, 78, 316, 29, and 129 can be accessed. Please park in approved parking spaces only. All illegally parked vehicles are subject to be towed. Parking in fire lanes is strictly prohibited. This will enhance the safety of all fans and limit further traffic slowdowns after the event. Please refrain from parking in Handicap spaces if you do not have a valid handicap parking permit.
Additionally, setting up tailgates (tents, tables, etc.) in parking spaces is not allowed, including in those areas controlled by the Athletic Association.

Tailgating
-------
Tailgating will not be allowed on any parts of the University of Georgia campus until 2pm on Saturday.

During your tailgate, please remember that the use of University resources including power and cable is prohibited. If you plan on grilling out, remember to dispose of charcoal appropriately. Allow charcoal to extinguish itself completely and do not dump hot coals onto the ground or in trash receptacles. Also, grills are not allowed to be used inside or on top of parking decks. Deep fryers and low country boils are also prohibited.

To reduce physical damage to North Campus grounds and control crowd behavior, the following procedures have been implemented.

1. Tailgating on North Campus will not be allowed until 2pm Saturday.
2. The following items will not be allowed on North Campus for the event:
*Tents
*Kegs
*Generators
*Televisions
*Amplified music
*Grills or cookers of any type
*Tables larger than 4 ft. long
*Household furniture (folding chairs not included)

These changes will impact a core group of fans who tailgate on the North Campus, Herty Field and surrounding areas. For those fans who still desire to tailgate in a large group, there are a host of other large spaces for fans to tailgate without risking the historic assets of the University campus while giving fans ample access to parking and other facilities.

North Campus is defined as the area bounded by Broad Street, Lumpkin Street, Baldwin Street and Jackson Street (including, but not limited to, the quadrangle between Broad Street and Old College, the quadrangle between Old College and the Main Library, and Herty Field).

Alcohol

No alcoholic beverages of any kind are allowed inside Sanford Stadium.
If you choose to drink alcohol, please do not drink to excess and be respectful of UGA grounds and property as well as your neighbors. Please note, there are 17 city streets that run through campus and are under the jurisdiction of Athens-Clarke County Government regulations, which includes an ordinance banning open containers of alcoholic beverages.

Restrooms

Multiple portable restroom facilities have been placed around campus for your convenience. Permanent facilities are provided at the Tate Center, Miller Learning Center, and the Georgia Center.

Text Message System
-------
The Athletic Association has implemented a text messaging system that allows fans to communicate directly with the stadium’s command post if assistance is needed in dealing with any special needs inside the stadium.

Should fans need assistance while inside the stadium, they will be able to contact event management staff by sending a text message from their phone. Simply text “DAWGS the Issue and Location of incident” to 69050. Please note that standard data and SMS rates apply.

Be sure to include the problem and location of the incident, including section row and seat number (if applicable) in the message.

Security Cameras

For your safety and security Sanford stadium uses a closed circuit camera system. This camera system is monitored to ensure stadium policies and procedures are being followed to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all fans.

Personal Belongings and Property
-------
The crime prevention unit of the University of Georgia Police Department would encourage guests to be mindful of their personal belongings. Guests can help to protect their property by locking it in a secure place or keeping their valuables with them at all times. Valuables such as purses or wallets should be carried on your person rather that left unattended. Valuables left unattended or unsecured in plain view provide ample opportunity for theft. Items to be left at a location should be secured in a locked compartment inside the vehicle or in a locked trunk. A vehicle trunk or glove box as well as truck toolboxes provide places to store valuables when you are unable to keep them with you.

Before leaving your vehicle for the event, please take the following preventative steps to decrease the chances of being the victim of a theft: park in a designated parking area, make sure your doors are locked and windows are up, and secure anything of value so that it is out of sight. Do not leave purses, phones, GPS, IPods, CD players and other electronic equipment and things of value on the seats of your vehicle. Valuables left in vehicles should be out of site and if possible secured in the truck or other securable location. If you are planning to leave electronics or other valuables in your vehicle please secure them out of site. Entering auto thefts are greatly reduced by taking a few moments to remove or secure items of interest. By securing valuables out of sight, guest can reduce the risk of theft from their vehicles. If you are a victim of theft or see suspicious behavior, please call the UGA Police Department at 706-542-2200 if you are on campus or the Athens-Clarke County Police at 911 if you are off of campus.

Ticket and Merchandise Sales

Please be cautious when buying or selling tickets. In the past, we have had instances of counterfeit tickets being sold and instances of people buying tickets with counterfeit money.

Remember the best way to purchase or sell tickets is through a verified dealer.

The only two locations approved for merchandise sales on campus are at Sanford Drive and Hooper Street and Sanford Drive near Field Street. Both areas are located on each side of Sanford Bridge near the stadium.
