Man Arrested for Peeping Tom Behavior

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An Athens man was arrested and charged with being a peeping tom after he was reported peeping at Clearwater Creek Cottages, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.

Several women called police and reported that a man was looking into windows in the Clearwater Creek Cottages area. Police found the man they described near North Stratford Drive. The officer noticed he frequently looked over his shoulder as he walked near the residences and was walking through the bushes behind the residences where there was no footpath leading to another area.

After the officer approached Lorenzo Stephenson, 51, Stephenson said he was looking for a friend's vehicle, although he could not say where his friend lived or what his vehicle looked like.

Due to the nature of the reports, the officer called for back up and searched Stephenson. A crack pipe was found on his person. Officers also found that Stephenson had his pants unzipped and his penis hanging out, according to the report.

Stephenson was arrested and charged with being a peeping tom. He was transported to the Clarke County Jail.
