Man Arrested for Threatening Woman in Barnes and Noble Parking Lot

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Around 12:10 on September 3, an Athens Clarke County Police officer met with a woman from Bishop in the parking lot at Barnes and Noble on the Atlanta Highway.

The woman said she had parked her vehicle. But before she could get out, a man pulled on the door handle and the partially rolled down window. The man demanded money.

When she told him she didn't have any money, he tried again to open the door.  He then told her to get out, go to an ATM, and get him $10.

He threatened to break her hand if she did not comply.

The woman told him she was calling the police and he walked away. Robert Collins, 50, of Fourth Street, was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt Robbery by Intimidation.
