Man Assaulted in Mobile Home Park and Other Incidents in Athens, Ga.

On Feb. 23 at 6:30pm, a man told police he was walking inside Country Corners Mobile Home Park at 1495 US 29 Highway. Someone struck him in the back of his head with a hard object. He fell to the ground and felt someone going through his pants pockets. He told them he had no money. When he stood back on his feet, he was assaulted by several individuals. He removed his shirt and discovered stab wounds in his abdomen, arm, and back of his head. He drove himself to the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was treated and interviewed by officers. The wounds did not appear to be life threatening.

On Feb. 23 at approximately 7:45pm, officers responded to a burglary in progress on Johnson Drive. A resident heard a knock on his door. He went to the door and did not see anyone. A short time later, he heard a noise at his window. He went to the window with his gun in his hand and opened the curtains. He observed at least two individuals running away from his residence.

On Feb. 22 between 8am and 10pm, a woman from  Woodridge Circle reported the theft of electronic items from her residence. The items were a laptop valued at $800.00, a touch screen tablet valued at $349.00, and a cell phone valued at $100.00.
