Man Given Life + 70 Years for Westside Rape & Other Charges

The rapist asked first to use the victim's cell phone, then for a drink of water.

She had just graduated from the University of Georgia and was in the process of packing up her belongings and moving back home when a young man asked her for a drink of water. When she gave it to him, he raped her.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Allen Hendric Robinson, 20, was sentenced on Friday to life plus 70 years and was found guilty on charges of rape, burglary, false imprisonment, armed robbery, aggravated assault and sexual battery.

The woman's roommate was home during the assault on July 23, 2012, and called 911, thinking it was a burglary, the story says. When police arrived, they saw Robinson jump from a second story window and  later arrested him in a nearby subdivision, the story says.
