Man Killed in One Car Accident in Athens, Ga.

James Edward Gary, 59, Freeman Drive, was east bound on the inner Loop 10 in a 2001 Dodge Dakota. Between the Prince Ave and Oglethorpe Ave exits, he came upon slower traffic. He went into the median in an attempt to avoid the traffic. As the vehicle entered the median it began to spin. It went down a slope and the vehicle flipped several times and came to rest across the outer loop west bound lanes. Gary was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. This accident occurred around 5:35pm on January 23.

A Pauldoe Street residence was burglarized between 8am and 7pm on January 22. Cash and a glass container with a total value of $31 were stolen.

Between 12 noon on November 23 and 6pm on January 9, Taylor Car Cleaner, 175 Produce Lane, was burglarized. A laptop and rims and tires were stolen. The total value was $1,828. The owner believes he located the rims at a local dealer and made the burglary report on January 23. The investigation continues.

A TV, video game console, and video games valued at $1,550 were stolen from a Laurie Drive residence in a burglary which occurred between 7:30am and 2:20pm on January 23.

A woman reported that her Laurie Drive residence was burglarized sometime before 2:30pm on January 23. A cooler and shoes valued at $185 were stolen.
