Man Suspected of Crashing Car Near Oconee Connector and Fleeing on Foot

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect from the incident late Saturday night.

Oconee County deputies used K-9s in a late night search for a man the Sheriff's Office says crashed a vehicle near the Oconee Connector at the intersection of Daniels Bridge and Mars Hill roads and fled the scene on foot.

A deputy had attempted to stop the man for speeding, according to a Nixle alert sent just before midnight on Saturday.

The Sheriff's Office later identified the suspect as 21-year-old Charleston Jamal Croffie.

Croffie is described as 5'11" and 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark clothing. The earlier alert stated he was bleeding.

Anyone who spots Croffie or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Sheriff's Office at 706-769-5665.
