Many Shoplifting Suspects Arrested at Epps Bridge Parkway Walmart Recently

All the shoplifting incidents happened at Walmart on Epps Bridge Parkway. An arrest isn't the same thing as a conviction.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Oconee County Sheriff’s Deputies made a number of arrests last week for shoplifting at Walmart. These incidents include:

On Oct. 16, Deputy Matt Towe found a loss prevention officer had two women in custody who had tried to leave the store without paying for $183 worth of clothing and jewelry. The women were seen putting the items into a diaper bag in the shopping cart and into their pockets. Laria Miller, 22, and Theresa Tashana Miller, 23, both of Hickman Drive, Athens, were charged, the story says.

On Oct. 18, Walmart security personnel stopped Lisa Christine Hatch, 51, of Winchester Way, Athens, after she tried to leave with merchandise, according to the story. She was charged with shoplifting.

On Oct. 20, Deputy Bill Parks found a loss prevention officer had detained an uncooperative shoplifting suspect, Dimitri Jordan, who had tried to leave the store with Duck Dynasty pants and a pair of gloves. The story says that when the deputy arrived, he noticed Jordan was agitated and being loud. When Parks tried to cuff him, Jordan tensed his arm, the story says. Parks warned that he would use a stun gun if Jordan didn’t cooperate. As the deputy pulled the stun gun, Jordan began apologizing and said he would cooperate. A search revealed Jordan a ball cap in his pants leg that also belonged to the store. Jordan, 35, of Morning View Drive, Athens, was charged with shoplifting.

On Oct. 21, a man was detained when he tried to leave the store without paying for $286 worth of merchandise that included meat, cosmetics and other foods. Brandon Lee Bowers, 35, of Snows Mill Road, Monroe, was charged with shoplifting, the story says.

On Oct. 21, a deputy dispatched to the store found that Raina Cailan Cundiff, 19, of Epps Bridge Road, was detained for trying to leave the store with $283 in cosmetics, the story says. Cundiff was charged with shoplifting, according to the story.

On Oct. 21, a deputy found that David Cassadetti Lilly, 21, of Timothy Court, Athens, was detained for trying to leave the store with an “Iron Man: DVD, a cable and some candy, with a total value of $35. The story says Lilly was charged with shoplifting.
