More than $5K in Jewelry, Coin Proofs Taken in Burglary

ARREST

Around 3 p.m. March 31 A man reported a chain saw valued at $50 stolen from a shed at his Helen Street residence. A suspect was named. A short time later, the officer made contact with him. After questioning, the chain saw was recovered at his residence. John Alan Butterfield, 51, Clover Street, was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

Officers responded to an alarm at a Burgundy Court residence 1:30 p.m. March 31. Entry was attempted but not made.

BURGLARY

An officer on patrol saw several suspicious males in the Millard Avenue area as he responded to a call. After completing that call, he returned to the area but did not located the subjects. While checking the area, he found an open door to a shed behind a Millard Avenue residence. The back door to the residence was also open. It appeared that the resident was in the process of moving out. The resident did not find anything missing from the residence. It is unknown if anything is missing from the shed.

A Forest Road residence burglarized between 7:35 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. March 31. A fire safe, coin proofs, a jewelry box containing jewelry, and a porcelain box containing jewelry were stolen. The total value was $5,438.
