Kerry Dean Katsaras, 27, Lake Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina was riding his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle on the Atlanta Highway, heading west. As he went over the bridge onto Epps Bridge Parkway, he apparently lost control of his motorcycle as he was rounding the curve and crashed into the guard rail. He was thrown from the motorcycle down onto the Atlanta Highway below, and died at the scene.

The Harley traveled a little ways and then stopped there, its lights on. Police believe Katasaras had been staying in Oconee County and working on a construction project in Athens.
