Motorcyclist Hit on South Milledge and Hospitalized

On January 15th at 10:25pm, a 24-year old man who lives on South Milledge Avenue was riding a 1996 Honda Motorcycle and heading south on Milledge Avenue. At Habersham Drive, he had slowed to turn left into an apartment complex.
Omar M. Mohammad Salih of Lakeside Drive was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and was also south bound. Salih did not see that the Honda had slowed and he was unable to stop in time. He struck the Honda in the rear, and the rider was thrown off the motorcycle.
The rider was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center. His name is not being released at this time pending notification of family members. No charges have been filed pending completion of the investigation.
