Police: Man Armed with Knife Demands $2 at Athens Gas Pump

Also: Camera and beer, groceries, jewelry, and car reported stolen in separate incidents.

A Colbert resident said he stopped at an Ila Road convenience store around 9:30 p.m. May 5. Before he exited his vehicle, he was approached by a male armed with a large knife who demanded $2. The victim said he pushed the suspect up against the pump and went inside to pay for his gas. The suspect entered the store also. When the victim exited the store, the suspect did also. He went around the side of the building. The victim left the scene and drove a short distance before calling police. The suspect’s description was given to officers and he was located near Norwood Circle. He was taken into custody and, after questioning, Tyrone Wright, 51, Norwood Cir, was arrested and charged with Attempted Armed Robbery.

BURGLARY 
A Crane Drive residence was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. April 29 and 10:30 a.m. May 2. Jewelry valued at $300 was stolen. Suspects were named. This was reported on May 5.

Between 3 p.m. May 3 and 10 a.m. May 5 an Oak Hill Drive residence was burglarized. Nothing is known missing at this time. A suspect was named.
A Chateau Terrace residence was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. May 5. Groceries valued at $60 were stolen. A suspect was named.

A camera and beer valued at $120 were stolen during a burglary at a Sunny Hills Drive residence. This occurred between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. May 5.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE 
Between 2 p.m. May 1 and 3:55 p.m. May 5 a glass door valued at $1,200 was shattered at Applied Health Services, 957 Baxter. 

THEFT BY TAKING 
A 1994 Toyota Corona stolen from a northside residence between 9 p.m. May 5 and 1:15 a.m. May 6. The vehicle is green, with Georgia tag PSL3109, and is valued at $4,000.
