Police Arrest Third Suspect in Home Invasion Armed Robbery

A fourth suspect is still at large.

Another suspect in a July 8 home invasion robbery at the Athens Gardens Apartment has been apprehended, police said Thursday afternoon.

Markeith Laguings, 21, was caught in Elberton, Ga., on July 10 after Athens-Clarke County Police were tipped off he was seen in the area. Elberton Police arrested him without incident.

Laguings is one of four suspects in the incident, during which two armed gunmen entered an apartment and stole money and marijuana around 12:45 a.m. on July 8. Two other suspects, Shunquavious Brown, 17, and a 15-year-old male have already been caught. Jarrell Gatavais Browner, 17, is still at large, according to police.

A witness told police the suspects were members of the “Pittsburgh” gang.

Once returned to Athens, Laguings will be charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Gang Act.
