Police: Boyfriend Stomps Athens Girlfriend, Throws Kitten Against Wall

The alleged assailant has DUI charge pending in Clarke County State Court.

Athens Clarke County Police believe a man stomped his girlfriend, assaulted her with scissors and threw her kitten against a wall.

The woman told police that Austin Todd Bacheller had assaulted her twice this week, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. But she called police only on Wednesday at 5:30am, when Bacheller flew into a drunken rage and stabbed the walls of her Waddell Street apartment with scissors.

The police learned from the woman that, hours before their arrival, Bacheller threw the woman to the ground and "stomped her," the story says. He also stabbed with a knife the bed mattress on which the woman and he had been lying.

The woman told police, the story says, that she was afraid to call the police, fearing that doing so would make Bacheller more violent.

Warrants charge Bacheller with aggravated assault, animal cruelty and criminal damage to property, the story says. He was booked into the Clarke County Jail.
