A traffic stop in front of a residence on Barnett Shoals Road led to the arrests of two men involved in a burglary at the same time.
According to Athens-Clarke County Police, Jerry Stevoski Ramsey, 29, of Dewy Rose, and Robert Edwhon Tucker, 21, of Hartwell, were arrested and charged with burglary and obstruction of law enforcement. Tucker also was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
A police officer made the traffic stop after midnight on March 14 in front of the Barnett Shoals residence of the two occupants. While the officer spoke to the driver, the passenger asked to go inside, and was allowed to do so.
The passenger came back to the officer to say he thought someone was inside the house. The officer called for backup, and then saw a man run out of the house.
The officer gave chase, and was later joined by other officers in the search. The man eventually was found in some nearby woods. An officer suffered a leg injury in the chase.
As another officer waited at the residence for an investigator to arrive, he heard the residents call out, and then saw another man, presumably Tucker, run from the residence. He was hiding upstairs.
He was caught a short time later, and his car was located nearby with marijuana in plain view.
