Police: Passed-Out Man in Car Faces Multiple Drug Charges

Athens-Clarke County Police reports, July 15

ARREST

Around 5:45 a.m. on July 15 an officer responded to a complaint of a male passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the roadway on Barnett Shoals Road at Lexington Road. Upon arrival he determined the vehicle was still running and the driver was passed out behind the wheel. He turned the vehicle off and was able to wake the driver. He was identified as Devin D. Johnson. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol/drugs and was arrested. During a search of his vehicle incident to the arrest, open containers of alcohol and a green leafy substance were found. The green leafy substance field- tested positive for marijuana. A search of his person revealed two pill bottles containing prescription medications. Johnson, 28, Cheatham Drive, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance, Possession of a Schedule III/IV/V Substance, Possession of marijuana, Drugs in Original Container, DUI Alcohol/Drugs, Stopping/Standing/Parking Prohibited, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

Between 8 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on July 14 an attempt was made to enter a Firewood Court residence.

A man said he was sitting inside his Sunny Hills Court residence. He heard banging on the back door and then glass break. He ran to the door and saw a younger black male trying to get in. When the suspect saw him, he started running. The man said he chased him but lost contact with him. The suspect wore a black t-shirt and yellow basketball shorts. This occurred between 2 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. on July 14.

 

BURGLARY

A Citation Court residence was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 14. TVs valued at $920 were stolen.

A handgun, ammunition, holster, and keys stolen from a Clifton Drive residence. The items were valued at $562. This occurred between 10:30 p.m. July 14 and 1:30 a.m. July 15.

 

BURGLARY / THEFT BY TAKING

A storage shed at Evergreen Memorial, 3655 Atlanta Hwy, was burglarized between 4:30 p.m. July 13 and 7 a.m. July 14. A trimmer, generator, drill with batteries and charger, gas can, and a vehicle key were stolen from the shed. An edger was stolen from outside. The total value was $758. A possible suspect was named.

 

ROBBERY / AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

A Stonybrook Circle resident said he was choked out and robbed of $80 while on Dudley Drive. No further information was given in the report.
