Police Reports: Motorist, Bicyclist Injured in Separate Accidents

ACCIDENT

Huong Lan Pham of Tifton, driving a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner, was northbound on Hawthorne Avenue around 5 p.m. June 4. Pham said a vehicle turned right off Old W Broad Street in front of her as she went through the intersection. She said she swerved to the right to avoid striking that vehicle. Her vehicle left the roadway and traveled up an embankment that launched her vehicle back into the roadway. The Pham vehicle thenstruck a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Emily Love Hale of Tallassee Road who was southbound. Hale and a 4-year old male in her vehicle were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Pham was cited for Failure to MaintainLane/Improper Driving on a Roadway.

Partha Sarthi Sharma of East Broad Street was riding a bicycle northbound on Milledge Avenue near the Cloverhurst Avenue intersection. Sharma left the area next to the curb and came into the lane of traffic. The handle bar of the bicycle struck the passenger side mirror on a 2009 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Aubrey Garrison of Hampton Court who was also northbound. Sharma was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. No citations were issued pending completion of the investigation. This accident occurred around 8 p.m. June 4.

BURGLARY

A man reported his Cumberland Court residence burglarized between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on June 4. A TV and key with a total value of $6,201 were stolen. A possible suspect was named.

A Martin Luther King, Jr., Pkwy residence was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. June 3 and 6 a.m. on June 4. A TV and laptop with a total value of $1,800 were stolen.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE PROPERTY / TERRORISTIC ACT

A man said he was eastbound on Cedar Shoals Drive around 7:40 a.m. June 2. As he passed Studio Court, he saw three black teenage males standing on the side of the road. He said something struck the front windshield of his car and caused it to crack. Believing one of the males threw the object, he stopped andtried to make contact with the males but they ran off. This was reported on June 4.

THEFT BY TAKING

An air conditioner unit valued at $1,500 was stolen from a vacant Midway Road residence between 11 p.m. May 30 and 8:30 p.m. on June 4.
