Police Searching for Man Accused of Robbery, Assaulting Officer

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of Rickie Korey "Woo" Powell. Police say he "should be considered violent and dangerous."

Police are searching for a man they say assaulted an Athens-Clarke County officer with a vehicle during the robbery of BP Gas Station at 4000 Lexington Road on April 18.

There are active warrants in Rickie Korey "Woo" Powell's name for robbery by force, aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer, and obstruction, police said.

According to a Nixle alert, Powell's last known address was Old Farmington Road in Bishop.

"He is known to frequently visit Clarke County to include the areas of: Bailey Street; Epps Bridge Road; Martin Circle; Milledge Avenue; Whitehall Road; Downtown," the alert states.
