Smoke from Cookout Leads to Aggravated Assault Charge

Craft has previously been arrested for beating someone, shooting someone in the foot and cutting someone on the neck.

Two women were grilling food outside their apartment in Parkview Homes when a man yelled that smoke was coming from the grill into his yard. He went inside his apartment and returned with a huge kitchen knife.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, that’s what happened Tuesday evening. And that’s why Charles Cecil Craft, Sr., was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Athens Clarke County Police officers went to Parkview Homes around 8pm on Tuesday, the story says, after the women called to report the alleged knife incident. Children playing in the area corroborated the story and Craft was arrested.
