Traffic Fatality on Spring Valley Road
34-year-old woman apparently lost control of her car.
Around 8am on June 17th, Peggy Michelle Haley, 34, Sulphur Springs Drive, Winterville, driving a 1996 Ford Escort, was southbound on Spring Valley Road.
At the Taylor Lane intersection, she lost control of her vehicle as she came out of a slight curve. Her vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Kayla Shead, 22, Sartain Drive.
Haley died of her injuries. Shead and a seven-month-old child were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
