Trio Tries to Run Over Woman with Car and other Crimes in Athens, Ga.

At approximately 3:56 am on February 2, ACCPD units responded to a disturbance on Waddell Street. Upon arrival, they met with a woman from Rocksprings Court. The woman stated she had been at Gresham’s Disco and had walked home from that location. She stated that she was approached from behind by a dark-colored vehicle which struck her, knocking her to the ground. When she was able to get up, with the assistance of a friend, she continued walking with the vehicle following. On Waddell Street, the vehicle once again attempted to run over her, but she avoided the vehicle and threw an item at the car, breaking a rear window. She and her friend went to a friend’s house on Waddell Street seeking assistance, but the occupants of the vehicle, one female and two males, exited the vehicle that had been following and attacked her. One of the male subjects struck the woman with a tire tool that was recovered at the scene. Two of the assailants were still on scene. McNeal Hancock, Stonehenge Way, Bogart and Chaquita Rena Shelton, Old Lake Drive, Athens, were charged with Aggravated Assault. The third suspect was identified. The investigation is ongoing.

At 11:35 pm on February 1, a man walked outside his Oglethorpe Avenue residence to retrieve an item from his vehicle. As he was walking towards the street, he was approached from behind by a black man brandishing a black in color handgun. The resident was pushed to the ground and struck with the handgun, and then the suspect took approximately $44.00 cash from his pocket. The resident told police the suspect ran to an adjacent parking lot and got into a primer-colored Oldsmobile Cutlass and left the area. The assailant was described as 6’02”, 190 pounds, wearing a long-sleeved orange shirt with a hood.

ACCPD responded to a reported fight in progress at a residence on Pamela Drive at approximately 9:38 pm on February 1. Upon arrival, the police officers found two men involved in a heated argument outside the residence. Investigation revealed that an argument over beer between Quincey Dekeith Meadows and another man had escalated to a physical confrontation. Both parties claimed the other had brandished a knife during the altercation and had threatened the other. It could not be determined at the scene which of the two assaulted the other, but witnesses saw Meadows through a chair during the confrontation, which caused damage to items inside the residence. Meadows was arrested for Criminal Trespass to Property under domestic violence statutes. The aggravated assault claims are currently under further investigation.  

At 12:40 pm on February 1, a neighbor saw a subject inside the shop adjacent to Allen’s Auto Sales on Danielsville Road. The neighbor watched the subject leave the shop, and was last seen walking towards Harve Mathis Road. The suspect was identified as a black man wearing a rust colored jumpsuit. Nothing was determined to be missing from the shop.

At approximately 6:35 am on February 1, an employee entered the Moonshine Bar at 275 East Clayton Street. Once inside, he heard suspicious noises coming from the back of the location, and when he went to investigate, he encountered a subject inside the business. The subject was a black male, 35-45 years old, average build, wearing a green shirt, jeans and a beanie cap, and also wearing glasses. The suspect also carried a multi-colored backpack. When confronted by the employee, he left the business through a rear door. Nothing could be determined to have been taken.

A resident of Dunlap Road in Winterville was at a Fairview Street location at approximately 12:18 pm on February 1, to check on his property. As he arrived, he saw two subjects exiting the house, which had also been burglarized the day before. One suspect was described as a black male, 6’00”-6’01” wearing a grey jumpsuit, the second as a black male approximately 5’10”. Entry had been made through a broken rear window. Nothing could be determined to be missing from the second break in.

A man reported that his Herman Street residence was entered sometime between January 26 and February 1 through a broken front window. A laptop computer and a bolt-action rifle were stolen from inside the residence.

A man reported that someone entered his Kathwood Townhouse through a broken window between 5:00am and 4:00 pm on February 1. Five hundred dollars was reported stolen from a room inside the residence.

A woman from Morton Road in Athens discovered that someone had entered her property on Whitehall Road through a broken window between January 15 and February 1. A bedspread was taken, and it appeared as if the bed had been slept in. Other items that did not belong in the residence were recovered.

Someone entered a Holmes Avenue residence through a forced-open rear door between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm on February 1. Two TV’s, an Android tablet, Nintendo Wii, Playstation III and an X-Box were taken from inside the residence.

Someone entered the residence of Orlando TERRELL in Lake Place Apartments through a forced-open rear door between 6:30 am and 9:15 pm on February 1. Two TV’s, assorted clothing, seven pairs of shoes and several bottles of liquor were taken from the residence.
