UGA Police Officer Drowns

Officer Tyler Harris died early Sunday after going to swim in Lake Sinclair, according to news reports.

Tyler Harris, 24, a UGA police officer since February, drowned over the weekend while visiting his parents in Peachtree City, accoring to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Harris, a Gainesville State College criminal justice graduate, had just finished his field training, the paper cites Chief Jimmy Williamson saying. He had been assigned to the patrol division, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.
