Whipping His Child Lands Father in Jail

Authorities say Stacy Lebronce Bolton whipped and scarred his son with a leather belt.

He beat his son so severely with a leather belt, cutting and bruising the boy, that the child now has a scar on his right thigh, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

Stacy Lebronce Bolton, 35, was arrested on Wednesday and taken to the Clarke County Jail on felony charges of first-degree child cruelty and aggravated battery and misdemeanor battery. The charges fall under the state Family Violence Act, the newspaper story says.

Bolton is accused of whipping his son’s torso, back and legs, “seriously disfiguring the victim’s right thigh with a leather belt, causing a loop scar above the right knee,” says a grand jury indictment filed in Clarke County Superior Court last month, according to the story. The incident is said to have happened last fall, and an arrest warrant taken out in December.

Bolton is being held without bail at the Clarke County Jail.
