William Wilson Heaton Indicted in Hit-and-Run Accident


A Clarke County Grand Jury earlier this week indicted William Wilson Heaton, 23, in the hit-and-run accident involving Woodstock resident Emily Bowman. He is accused of hitting her with his Mazda pickup on Feb. 16 as she walked with a friend along Oconee/Oak Street late at night.

Heaton was on Tuesday indicted on 13 counts by the grand jury, according to CBS Atlanta.

Charges against Heaton include DUI, open container, reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report the accident and failure to maintain lane. 

Bowman, a Woodstock High School graduate and former Kennesaw State University student, was hospitalized in critical condition at Athens Regional Medical Center between Feb. 16 and March 8 after the incident.
