Around 11pm on January 24, police officers responded to an assault at a College Avenue residence in Riverview Apartments.
The found a man who said that he and a woman he knows were arguing. The man told police that during the argument he was struck with an unknown object that cut him above his eye.
The police contacted Tammie Elaine Johnson, who lives in the same College Avenue apartments.
She told the officers she struck the man with a jar of olives because he wouldn't give her money to buy crack, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald. She was also upset because the man wasn't interested in being with her, the story said.
Johnson, 49, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. EMS responded and transported the man to a hospital.
