Woman Escapes Attempted Rape on Trail at State Botanical Garden in Athens, Ga.

Officers from several different law enforcement agencies searched for a suspect Friday night.

A woman was walking on a trail in the State Botanical Garden on Friday afternoon around 4:20. Suddenly, a tall, thin man approached her, put a knife to her neck and threatened to rape her. She managed to flee and call authorities.

Law enforcement officials searched Friday night along and near South Milledge for a white man, six feet tall, about 150 pounds, with short blonde hair. According to the UGA Police Blog, the suspect was wearing a hooded green and white sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, a hooded green and white sweatshirt, black sunglasses and white running shoes.
