Woman Says She Smells Man in Closet, Believes He is Suffocating Inside a Wall

The woman used a screwdriver to poke holes in the wall.

The woman poked holes in a wall in her Sycamore Drive apartment with a screwdriver, certain that a man was trapped inside.

When Athens Clarke County police arrived Wednesday morning, the sweating, panting, trembling 26-year-old woman assured them the man was inside the wall, suffocating, according to a story in the Athens Banner Herald.

She told police she could hear and smell a man in her closet, the story says.

According to the story, the woman was taken by ambulance to Athens Regional Medical Center. The police incident report doesn't mention mental health or substance abuse problems suffered by the woman.
