A Road to Remember
ACC Commissioner Doug Lowry proposes naming a road for slain ACC Police Officer Buddy Christian.
It's a road in the Eastern part of Athens-Clarke County. On it are the animal shelter and the Northeast Georgia Police Academy. Police officers being trained from 18 counties in North Georgia come to the academy.
Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Doug Lowry, who represents the area, proposed Tuesday night renaming Beaverdam Road Extension Buddy Christian Way. He said many people had told him the new name would be an appropriate way to honor Police Officer Buddy Christian, who died in the line of duty on March 22.
Several other commissioners endorsed the proposal, so it seems certain to happen.
