Animal Control Report: 47 Calls; 83 Animals Impounded

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 47 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

• 23 reports of dogs running at large
• 7 reports of animal neglect
• 5 reports of seriously injured animals
  
• 3 reports of animal bites
• 3 requests for cat transport
• 2 reports of trapped animals
• 2 reports of seriously sick animals
• 2 reports of aggressive animals
• 1 citation was issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations
• 17 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 83 animals — 30 dogs, 52 cats, 1 raccoon.

Eight dogs and 2 cats were adopted, 3 dogs reclaimed, and 8 dogs and 10 cats were turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
