About Jim Geiser

Jim Geiser as been active in school choice and education reform strategy efforts for over 30 years.  He headed  the Big Buddy Program, a non-profit serving inner city children in at-risk traditional public schools in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He helped found and served as principal for one of the first independent charter schools in Louisiana, a highly successful K-8 school serving a 96% population of at-risk students. In  2008, Jim ran for school board in Clarke County with school choice as a major tenet of his campaign. He is the father of two middle-school students who are currently being home schooled.   Jim understands that the solutions to reforming public education are complex, but believes that school choice is central to the systemic change needed for true and sustainable reform for children from all demographics.
Note: This event will not focus on specific legislation but the concept of School Choice.
