Community Forum, Immigration

Want to have your say on important campaign issues this election season? If so, come out and make your voice heard. This fall, the Russell Forum for Civic Life in Georgia, the primary outreach program of the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies, will host a series of community forums focused on some of the most pressing issues facing voters in the 2012 election season: national security, the economy, and immigration.

The third forum in the series, American Immigration: How Do We Fix a System in Crisis? takes place on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012, from 5:30-7:30PM.

Most Americans agree that our immigration system needs an overhaul. But, tackling the immigration issue requires that we take a fresh look at it and get beyond the polarized debates that too often divide the country rather than bringing it together. Participants will deliberate on the issues, weigh the benefits and tradeoffs of various approaches to immigration reform, and explore possible solutions using the National Issues Forums model.

This event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 5:30PM for light refreshments. Forums will take place in Room 285 of the new Richard B. Russell Building for Special Collections Libraries located at 300 S. Hull Street.

This event is part of the Ready, Steady, Vote! Fall Program Series. For more information on this and other events in the series, please contact russlib@uga.edu or call (706) 542-5788.
