From 129 Resumes To One Executive Director of the ADDA

Board members of the Athens Downtown Development Authority are working their way through the hiring process.

March 15th was the deadline to apply for the executive director's job with the Athens Downtown Development Authority, so if you missed it, you're out of luck. There have been applicants from Athens and from other parts of the country who made the deadline and applied for the job.

ADDA Board of Directors member Brian Brodrick is on a committee with board member Erica Cascio to go through the resumes and narrow down the pool of 129 candidates for consideration by the full board at an April executive session.

"I would say that maybe 60 of them meet some of the qualifications," said Brodrick. "Some didn't. But I think it's great we had so much interest."

Brodrick and Cascio will vet the 60 resumes, then wind up with 15 to 25 of them for the entire board to discuss. The board will decide how to move forward to meet their goal of having someone hired by May--before the contract expires for current ADDA director Kathyn Lookofsky in June.

"We'll be doing a lot of work in April," Brodrick said. The board should be interviewing candidates throughout the month before making a final decision. He isn't sure if there will be three finalists or just one strong candidate who clearly is the best person for the job.

The elaborate job description for the executive director reflects the board's vision of what downtown should be, Brodrick said. This particular board has different understandings and expectations from other boards.

The salary for the ADDA executive director is $65,000 to $80,000.

The board’s going to have to decide that once it wraps its arms around the candidates.
