Georgia Department of Labor to Hold A Forum for Employers and Athens Tech

Athens Tech wants feedback on its engineering curricula.

From the Georgia Department of Labor:

The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Athens Career Center will host a forum for employers on behalf of Athens Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The forum will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the career center, 150 Evelyn C. Neely Dr.

The forum is to provide an opportunity for college personnel to meet with employers to discuss a $13 million federal grant the college has received.

The forum will give employers a chance to provide feedback that will help design engineering curricula that will best meet the needs of employment within the engineering field. Curricula that will be discussed will include: nanotechnology, environmental engineering, electromechanical engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Athens Tech is one of three technical colleges in Georgia to receive part of a Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

For more information about the expo, contact Lori Chafin at the Athens Career Center at (706) 583-2550, or email her.
