Mayor Denson and Selig Refuse to Meet Occupy Athens' Demands

Selig says it will hold no public meetings on a mixed use development proposed for Oconee Street.

According to a story Monday in the Athens Banner Herald, both Mayor Denson and Brian Broderick, whose Athens PR firm Jackson/Spalding represents Selig in Athens, said they won't meet with the group. Denson won't apologize either.

Thus far, Selig Enterprises has met privately with various community members and elected officials, but hasn't held a meeting for the general public. Nor do they intend to do so, the story says.

Some members gathered at the monthly meeting of the Economic Development Foundation at the Chamber of Commerce building. They also intend to go to the ACC Commission meeting on Tuesday, they said.

Some members of the group have said they intend to stay put until their demands are met. They've created a Facebook page to outline their events.
