McKilllip's Abortion Bill Passes

A few teeth have been pulled but it still has a bite.

 

It was of this year's legislative session, which ended last night. As the clock struck midnight, Doug McKillip's HB 954 abortion bill rose from the dead--like a zombie, said the Banner Herald's Blake Aued, earlier in the day--and was passed.

It's missing a few original body parts from the original, but it's still horrible enough to disgust female legislators, who turned their backs on Democrat-turned-Republican Representative McKillip after the last-minute vote.

In its compromised version, the bill allows a woman and her doctor to terminate a pregnancy after 20 weeks if the pregnancy is "medically futile," according to a story in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. This condition occurs when there are chromosomal or congenital defects.

During the machinations of the legislature yesterday, the male president of the Georgia Right to Life, Dan Becker, and John Walraven, the head of the Perinatal Infertility Coalition, had a physical confrontation, the AJC story noted.
