No Chance For Now of Returning to Superdistricts or November Elections, Legislators Say

The local delegation says the changes aren't going to come any time soon.

Some delegations from other parts of the state told Rep. Chuck Williams (R-Watkinsville) that they would "fight you tooth and nail" over such a change. Williams said he got a lot of "pushback" from other unified governments.

And Williams said there wasn't consensus among delegation members over the possiblity of returning Athens' voting districts to the 8 districts and 2 superdistricts originally in the Athens Clarke County charter. Without that consensus, the issue won't go forward.
