Rep. Broun Blasts Democrats and Republicans Over National Debt

The Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate was speaking to Clarke County GOP members on Monday night.

Paul Ryan's budget isn't austere enough because the budget projections are just too rosy. So Rep. Paul Broun (R-Athens) couldn't vote for it.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Broun said that debt and out-of-control spending was "an enemy of our nation." Instead, he proposed a balanced budget amendment that has a formula of inflation-plus-population growth for spending increases.

Broun, who's running for the U.S. Senate seat now held by retiring Republic Senator Saxby Chambliss, was in Athens to speak to the Clarke County Republicans.

The story says Broun also proposes cutting both the corporate tax rate and the capital gains tax. And also eliminating the bloated U.S. Department of Education and the jobs-killing Environmental Protection Agency.
